Nairobi is the biggest and it is the capital city of Kenya. The name of the city originates from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi meaning place of “cool water”. This is in connection to the Nairobi River that passes through the city. In the 2009 census, the city had a population of 3,138,369 residents and it is the only city in the world with a game reserve. The Bomas of Kenya is a tourist village located in Langata, Nairobi. The Bomas of Kenya displays the traditional houses belonging to the several tribes found in Kenya. Each boma (Homestead) in this cultural village was built using the specifications of the specific tribe. The sole aim of the Bomas of Kenya is the preservation of Kenyan culture. A visit at the Bomas of Kenya is truly made for a great experience as there are dancers that showcase the different traditional dance moves of the Maasai, the Kikuyu, the Meru, the Luo among other tribes. There is also a chance for the visitor to get involved and dance along to the tribal songs. The Bomas of Kenya is indeed a great place for fun and education.

A visit to Nairobi is not complete without visiting the famous Nairobi National Park. This is one of the most famous game reserves in the world because it is found in a major city. The park is in an open field and is approximately 7 kilometers from the CBD and it comprises of an electric fence separating the game from the metropolis. The park is home to four of the Big Five safari animals: Lions, Buffalo, Leopards, and Rhinos. The park is also home to over 400 bird species. The park has defined hiking trails and picnic sites for visitors. There are tour guides available to drive visitors to the park and explore the wild. This is a major tourist attraction site and you should not miss the opportunity to visit this park.
4. Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages
The Karen Blixen Coffee Garden Cottages Hotel is a hotel found in Karen, a lovely, serene area that is roughly 20 miles from Nairobi CBD. The hotel is half a mile from the famous Karen Blixen Museum and Karen Country and Golf Club. The bungalows are found amidst one of the oldest confirmed gardens in Kenya with huge trees such as Jacaranda, Candelabra, Cactus, and Bottlebrush. The facilities can house as many as 30 guests with each cottage comprising of individual suites. The facilities also have a small gym, spa, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and Sauna for guests. 5. Ngong Hills
Ngong Hills is located along the Great Rift Valley, southwest of Nairobi city. The word Ngong was a result of Anglicization of the Maasai name given to the place, Enkong’u Emuny, meaning rhinoceros spring. The spring is located near Ngong town. Ngong hills are green and they offer a beautiful site to hike on, along the defined trails by the Kenya Forestry services. The hills offer a pristine landscape for team building. The south peak of the hills overlooks the Rift-valley, giving a breathtaking view while on the hill. The hill is also an active wind farm filled with windmills. This is among the places you do not want to miss while in Nairobi.
