Young Dolph American Rapper Shot and Killed

Adolph Robert Thornton Jr popularly known by his stage name Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis on Wednesday, November 17, according to police. The shooting was confirmed by Three independent law enforcement sources with the information shared with FOX13.
Young Dolph Bio
Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. was born on July 27, 1985, in Chicago. His family then moved to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was 2 years old. He had two sisters and two brothers and was cousins with rapper Juice Wrld. Mostly raised by his grandmother, Dolph’s parents experienced addictions to crack cocaine and he would only see them every few weeks as a child.
Young Dolph Education
As a teenager, Dolph attended Hamilton High School. Raised by his grandmother, He described initially recognizing his grandmother as “the meanest motherfucker in the world”, explaining “I didn’t get that shit at the time. … All the shit she was telling you, you get to seeing that shit when you hit about 15”, saying that when he approached that age he began utilizing her teachings throughout his life to be more independent.
Young Dolph Music Career
In 2016, he released his debut studio album, King of Memphis, which peaked at number 49 on the Billboard 200 chart. He was featured on O.T. Genasis’ hit single “Cut It”, which peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100. Young Dolph’s seventh album, Rich Slave, was released in 2020 and became his highest-charting project, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200.
Young Dolph Previous Shooting Incidents
In 2017, Young Dolph was shot outside of a retail store in Hollywood, Los Angeles on September 26, 2017.[ He was listed in critical condition at the hospital, but within a few hours, doctors said that he was expected to survive.[15] He spent two weeks in the hospital to recover from his three gunshot wounds. Moments after the shooting, Yo Gotti was initially named as a person of interest in relation to the shooting. Yo Gotti was later cleared; his friend, Corey McClendon, was arrested for attempted murder but was released with no charges the next day.

Thornton had two children Tre Tre and Ari, with his wife Mia Jaye. Mia who is Detroit but has spent a substantial amount of time in Memphis is a graduate with a B.S in Real Estate Finance from the University of Memphis class of 2012. She founded Mia Jaye The Mom and CEO, LLC. a lifestyle brand dedicated to providing support to and advocating for the modern mom to show up as her best self.

Young Dolph Death
His camouflage Corvette sat in the parking lot of the bakery when FOX13 crews arrived. Hours later, it was towed. Videos of the car went viral on TikTok as it was taken by police. Hundreds of people in the comments asking for answers. FOX13, Jeremy Pierre wrote, “On the scene of a shooting on Airways. I’m hearing Memphis rapper Young Dolph may be a victim in the shooting. The shooting happened at Makeda’s Cookies.”

According to Fox, 13, Police called the shooting “senseless” and said, “our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who were affected by this horrific act of violence.” The release closed by saying officers are committed to working to curb these types of incidents.
The Memphis rap legend was no stranger to the bakery. A week before being shot to death, Young Dolph was there, spreading love and promoting the business.

Young Dolph is well known for handing out turkeys around Thanksgiving in Memphis through the Memphis Athletic Ministries charity, speaking to school children and donating money to his former high school Hamilton High School.

Young Dolph was supposed to pass out turkeys at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis this Friday between 2-5 p.m.
